Ali Safa

Ali A. Safa is the Chief Executive Officer and a Founding Principal of SAFA HOLMES.

After graduation, Ali’s first appointment was with the late Stephen Curtis at Curtis & Co Solicitors in London, where he was involved in various complex commercial cross-border transactions, including a landmark House of Lords case. He later travelled extensively in South-East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe as an independent legal consultant, commercial advisor and negotiator – his clients included family offices, embassies and high-profile clients. His experience encompassed acquisitions in natural resources, telecommunications and real estate.

On the death of his father, Ali took over the running of a significant family business, which is the oldest manufacturing steel plant in the Republic of Angola. During the severe economic downturn of 2014, he successfully diversified the business into oil and gas, security, logistics and distribution.

Ali is also the Republic of Seychelles first Honorary Consul in Angola, which entails initiating high-level political and diplomatic discussions with leaders in the Government of Angola and throughout the Southern Development Community (SADC) region. He successfully negotiated and concluded bilateral agreements, including a visa waiver agreement between Angola and Seychelles (one of only four countries to do so).

Ali has an LL.B. with Honours in Law (English and European) together with the Legal Practice Course from the University of Law, London.
